Lydd Town Ladies hosted Old Pepys in the quarter final of the Divisional cup yesterday.
Lydd started brightly and created a couple of half chances.
On the five minute mark, a great through ball from Chambers put Conceicao through.
A battle of strength ensured between Conceicao and the centre back which Conceicao won and cooly slotted the ball into the corner to give Lydd the lead.
Lydd continued to push for a second, pinning Pepys back in their own half.
On twenty four minutes, a free on the left was swung in from Long which was cleared. The ball found its way back to Long who played a better ball in which fell to Ahmed who shot in at the near post to make it 2-0.
The rest of the half was the same with Lydd on top. But Old Pepys were always a threat with the long ball over the top.
One which their player latched onto was cleared off the line by Chambers.
Second half saw Old Pepys try and get back into the game, but the defence was solid meaning Harris didn’t have a lot to do.
With twenty five minutes to go Gennery entered the fray, a mazy run by Williams on seventy four mins down the left, saw her into the box and her pass found Gennery unmarked on the six yard line for her to score her first goal of the game.
On eighty minutes the two combined again for Williams to pass to Gennery who was unmarked in the six yard box to score her second.
That’s two weeks running she’s come off the bench to score two.
So 4-0 the final result.
Some cracking goals and a clean sheet which the defence of Stevenson, Long, Eakers & Laing deserved.
So into the Semi final the Ladies go.
