Lydd Town are pleased to announce the signing of experienced forward Stefan Payne.
This marks a historic signing for Lydd Town, as Stefan has played for Tranmere Rovers, Shrewsbury Town, Gillingham, and even a short spell at Fulham!
“In his two years at the Gills, he made 37 appearances, scoring twice. At the end of his contract, he returned to non-league football with Aldershot and then back to Sutton.
It was in the season 2013/14 that Stefan found a rich vein of form at Isthmian League side AFC Hornchurch scoring 35 goals which earned him a move up into the Conference with Dover Athletic, where his prolific run continued, scoring 33 times in a two-season spell.”
Most recently, Payne received the SCEFL Premier Golden Boot after scoring 35 goals in all competitions last season for Faversham Town.
Stefan will become a fan favourite here at Lindsey Field. He is a proven lethal finisher,” says Interim Manager Ryan Smith.
Payne is cup-tied for today's FA Vase fixture vs Athletic Newham and therefore should be in the squad to face Bearsted on Tuesday.
All of Lydd Town would like to Welcome Stefan to the Lydd Town.
